Q: What is a sitting fee?
A: Your sitting fee pays for time spent with your photographer(s) at your session.

Q: What can I expect at my photo session?
A: You may interact with one photographer only or several different photographers for different portrait styles. Motown Portrait will take your official yearbook portrait along with other poses you select. Please ask questions and express what you want. Expect some poses to feel a little awkward, but trust your photographer to know what looks best in a finished portrait.

Q: When should I order my portraits?

A: Take your time in selecting favorite portraits with family and friends from the proofs. Be sure to order your portraits at least 2 months before the end of the school year to ensure they will be ready for graduation time. Remember, after we receive your order, your finished portraits will arrive 6–8 weeks later. Call Motown Portrait if you have questions about ordering. Rush Orders are available.

Q: How do I order my portraits?

A: It's best to order your package in person at Motown. A representative will help you place your order.

Q: Can I get help placing my order?

A: Yes. Please call Motown Portrait at (313) 863-1630

Q: How do I select my yearbook pose?

A: Your school may have special requirements pertaining to Yearbook poses. Ask your yearbook advisor for details or call Motown Portrait.

Q: How long will my photo session last?

A: The length of your photo session depends on the sitting option you choose such as the variety of outfit changes, portrait styles, poses, etc.You can expect a Session to last 2-3 hours. Call Motown Portrait for more information.

Q: How long does it take to receive my order?

A: From the time Motown receives your order, expect 6–8 weeks for your delivery of your portraits. Rush orders are available.

Q: May I use as many proofs as I want for my wallets?

A: You may divide your wallet order into units of eight (8) for as many proofs as offered by your package. If ordering from more poses than your package offers, there may be an extra pose charge.

Q: What if I want more portraits after I order?
A: Please reorder by calling Motown Portrait at (313)-863-1630.

Q: How long will negatives/film be kept on file?

A: Motown will retain your portrait negatives for 2 years after graduation.

Q: May I purchase my negatives/film?

A: No, we’re sorry but negatives are not for sale. However, if you wish to order more portraits, Motown will retain your portrait negatives for 2 years after graduation.

Q: Will my proofs or finished portraits fade with time?

A: No, portraits will not fade, but portraits should never be placed in direct sunlight.

Q: How many proofs can I order from?

A: You may order from as many proofs as a package offers. If you are ordering individual portraits, the prices will be given for multiple poses or an extra pose charge will be added. When ordering from more poses than a package offers, extra pose charges may be added.

Q: May I have a retake if I don’t care for my proofs?

A: Please call Motown Portrait representative to schedule a retake appointment. We will gladly retake 4 shots in one outfit for $25.00.

Q: What does retouching include?
A: Your finished portrait order includes removal of skin blemishes and the softening of fine lines and wrinkles. Moles and minor glass glare are removed when requested. Proofs will not be retouched. Call Motown Portrait for more information on retouching and additional rates.

Q: Will my proofs be returned with my order?

A: Yes, proofs will be returned if you are purchasing your proofs. You need only return the proof(s) from which you are ordering from and those will be returned with your portrait order.


Q: Will my proofs be retouched if I order them?

A: No. Proofs are sold as is. However, the proofs you order from will be retouched and returned to you with your portrait order.
